New details in the case against a roofer allegedly involved in two shootings can be revealed after a three-month wait complicated by frozen bank accounts and additional drug charges.

One of the men accused of multiple shootings at a Rockhampton home has finally had new lawyers appointed to him, four months after he was arrested.

Thomas Craig Grundy, 22, was charged with multiple offences from the Peter Street, Berserker, shootings in February and March when he was arrested on March 6.

His co-accused in the shootings is fellow roofer Zac Anthony Warren-Rourke, 22.

The tradesmen are accused of carrying out two shootings where one man sustained a gunshot wound to an arm as he fled for cover in the first incident, and the other man was shot in the leg in the second.

Mr Grundy’s charges were one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and threatening violence by discharge firearm or other act along with two counts of enter dwelling and commit.

Mr Warren-Rourke of Koongal has been charged with one count each of attempted murder and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, along with two counts of enter dwelling and commit.

The charges were laid following police investigations into two separate shootings and two robberies at a property in Peter St, Rockhampton between February 21 and March 6.

Mr Grundy’s charges were mentioned again in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday where defence lawyer Jess King advised her law firm had been granted aid to represent the accused shooter just this week.

He had previously been represented by KA Criminal Law, who are based in Brisbane.

They withdrew from representing Mr Grundy in early April – the same day he found out he had more charges laid against him – possessing methamphetamine and contravening an order about providing access to electronically stored information.

“I’m in the middle of trying to sort out legal representation because I had my accounts frozen outside and that and they’re still frozen,” Mr Grundy told the court on that occasion.

He also told the court he thought the accounts were under investigation.

The court heard a brief of evidence had previously been ordered, but for only two of Mr Grundy’s charges.

Ms King this week requested briefs of evidence for all of his charges.

Court documents viewed by The Morning Bulletin stated when police arrested Mr Grundy on March 6, after spotting him on Musgrave Street near a car wash and he attempted to run, he was found possessing about 23 grams of methamphetamine.

According to court documents, police will allege Mr Grundy lived at the Peter St property in the lead-up to the alleged offences but had moved out since.

Both accused men are originally from the Gold Coast with Zac and his twin brother Max relocating to Central Queensland in 2020 when demand for roofers spiked after a supercell storm with tennis-ball sized hail caused widespread damage at the Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton.

All of Mr Grundy’s charges will next be mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on August 27.

Mr Warren-Rourke’s charges will next be mentioned on July 30.

Both are remanded in custody and no pleas have been entered yet for any charges.
