WHILE our most prestigious beachside properties rent for up to $40,000 a week, a historic Darling Point mansion is now charging $20,000 for just one night.
The 56-bedroom Swifts, often referred to as Sydney Castle, is owned by the multi-millionaire Moran family, of Moran Health Care Group fame.
In August, the family said it would open the luxury home up for charity functions, but The Sunday Telegraph can reveal they will charge both charities and corporate clients thousands of dollars a night to hire rooms for events.
Corporations can book the entire ground floor for $20,000; charities pay a discounted $15,000.
Other packages range from morning or afternoon tea in the formal lounge for $200 per person to the grand ballroom at $10,000 a night.
Swifts was built in 1870; the Moran family bought it in 1997 for $12 million, and restored it. The family recently knocked back offers of $50 million.
On Friday the Cornucopia Foundation will hold its annual Swifts Garden Party there; Mark Vincent will perform and the Governor, Marie Bashir, will attend.
