Those looking for an escape and a bit of bush therapy can find plenty of awesome national parks to camp in here in NSW. Here’s 10 of the best.

If you like your campsites rugged and remote, this national park near Walcha will appeal. The streams and creeks are the obvious attraction – especially as the weather warms up.

Nowendoc National Park

Within striking distance of Grafton and Glenn Innes, this park falls within the World Heritage Area of Gondwana Rainforests. It feels like stepping back in time with waterfalls, gorges and cute resident koalas.

Washpool National Park

You won’t be bored in this national park near Canberra. Caving, canyoning, rock climbing and abseiling are all on the menu — as are more sedate hikes.

Bungonia National Park

Steeped in Indigenous and settler heritage, this park near Lithgow is home to kangaroos, wallaroos, wallabies and gliders. Hikers and mountain bikers are also well catered for.

Capertree National Park

Just half an hour from Griffith, Cocoparra shares its name with the looming range. Spring is the perfect time to visit when the place explodes with wildflowers.

Home to the Wollemi Pine, one of the rarest plants in the world, this park is accessed from the town of Kandos. Spring is the perfect time for a paddle around the striking Ganguddy (Dunns Swamp).
