WITH her dyed pink hair and punk pop look, Erinn Swan's image couldn't be further from her politician father's.
Swan, daughter of Treasurer Wayne Swan, is a singer and songwriter, forging her own path in the competitive music industry.
"We always muse about the parallels between politics and the music industry," the 24-year-old told The Sunday Telegraph. "I've learnt a lot from him and his perseverance."
Swan flew to Los Angeles on Friday to work on new material for her flatmate and best friend Jess Origliasso, one half of pop duo The Veronicas. She's also working on her debut album with her five-piece band, Stream Of Envy, and plans to move to Sydney next month.
Growing up as the daughter of a famous politician, Swan insists she wants to make it on her own merit, not her family name.
"I probably couldn't have chosen an industry further away from politics than I have, which I think is kind of a good thing," she mused.
