Wanted bikie enforcer Tarek Zahed has been extradited to back to Sydney in a cheap Nike tracksuit - a far cry from the Gucci outfits he has bragged of owning.
Zahed, 40, returned to NSW on Monday afternoon after the Melbourne Magistrates Court agreed to his extradition earlier in the day.
The Comancheros national sergeant-at-arms had been on the run for several weeks since an arrest warrant was issued in NSW for a breach of his parole.
Police had been tracking Zahed for a day before heavily armed officers finally pounced and arrested him in the Melbourne suburb of Altona North on Friday.
It is understood he had been staying in nearby Point Cook while hiding out in Victoria.
Zahed - who is known for wearing expensive designer brands to court - stepped off the plane at Sydney Airport in an old sports tracksuit.
He was accompanied on the flight from Melbourne by detectives from the Criminal Groups Squad, before being led away by officers from Strike Force Raptor.
Wearing a COVID mask and in handcuffs, Zahed offered up a chuckle at the media attention his return had garnered.
Zahed will now be returned into the custody of NSW Corrective Services for another court date.
A Victoria Police spokesman said police received information Zahed had travelled to Victoria despite the warrant out for him in NSW.
“Detectives from the Echo Taskforce, Australian Federal Police national anti-gangs squad and NSW Police arrested a man on Friday as part of a joint operation,” he said.
