Mohammed Skaf denied parole for a fourth time

A notorious rapist who terrorised women in Sydney — and has been eligible for parole since 2018 — is set to remain behind bars for an unexpected reason.

Skaf gang rape trial

Notorious gang rapist Mohammed Skaf has been denied parole for a fourth time.

Skaf, who was jailed alongside his brother Bilal over a series of horrifying rapes in 2000 that has left a scar on Sydney.

The 37-year-old has been eligible for parole since 2018 and has repeatedly failed to satisfy authorities that he should be released.

He was again denied on Friday when the State Parole Authority again ruled that Skaf would not be released.

The authority made its decisions after the Serious Offenders Review Council advised against releasing Skaf.

Skaf has repeatedly refused to acknowledge his crimes and still denies that he raped anyone.

Answering questions from The Sunday Telegraph in 2019, Skaf said he had been wrongly accused.

“I’m not a rapist. What she alleged against me wasn’t true,” Skaf said in July 2019. “I don’t blame anyone. How can I have empathy for someone that wasn’t raped by me?

On August 12, 2000, Skaf’s trial heard that he brought a 16-year-old female friend to Gosling Park in Greenacre, southwest Sydney, where a soccer game was taking place.

Once there, she was raped by Skaf’s older brother Bilal as 12 others laughed and bashed her before she was able to escape.

A second incident occurred on August 30, 2000, in which an 18-year-old woman, identified only as Ms C, was approached by Skaf on a train, which they rode together to Bankstown.

Skaf raped Ms C in a nearby toilet block, telling her: “I’m going to f**k you Leb style.”

She was then taken to two other locations where, over the course of the night, she was raped repeatedly by 14 men, called an “Aussie pig” and hosed down.

Other members of the gang were sentenced to a combined 240 years in jail for attacks on six women, later reduced on appeal.

In January 2001, Skaf was sentenced to 22 years 11 months 30 days, with a non-parole period of 16 years 11 months and 30 days.

Skaf became eligible for parole on 1 January 2018 at the expiry of the non-parole period.

His head sentence expires on January 1, 2024.
