After following the car onto Oakley Rd, Long Point, police signalled for the car to stop, and began a pursuit after the vehicle didn’t pull over.
The pursuit was halted due to safety concerns but the Maserati then drove down a dead end on Wedderburn Rd before ramming a marked police car.
Three people fled the car and ran on foot, before Steven Adams, 25, allegedly stabbed a senior constable in the hand with a screwdriver after being cornered in nearby bushland.
He was arrested soon after on O’Hares Rd, Wedderburn, but the other two occupants of the Maserati escaped despite the help of the Dogs Squad and Polair.
Adams was charged with wound person with intent to resist arrest, assault police officer in execution of duty, carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and possess prohibited drug.
Adams made no application for bail in Campbelltown court and it was formally refused.
Police are continuing to search for the pair on the run, and have asked anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
