Rebel Wilson and Adele: secrets to stunning weight loss revealed

Sydney lawyer to the stars Abbas Soukie has undergone a jaw-dropping 40-kilo weight loss transformation - spurred on by a cause close to his heart.

The 31-year-old Hanna Legal criminal defence lawyer, who represents the Ibrahim family including King Cross identity John, is undertaking a gruelling 100km run fundraising for sick children at the Westmead Children’s Hospital.

Mr Soukie says he was his largest - about 120 kilos - when he secured bail for Construction boss George Alex in August last year, who was accused of a multi-million dollar tax fraud scheme.

“I saw pictures of myself and that was my biggest,” Mr Soukie said.

“There were a few personal things around that time that happened that finally pushed me to do this and raise money for a reason close to me.”

Mr Soukie said a former long-term partner was diagnosed with cancer as a teenager and later died from the horrible disease, which “was a big motivator”.

She had attended Westmead Children’s Hospital.

“I hope this money will help the workers who bring comfort and joy to the lives of these children,” Mr Soukie said.

Mr Soukie said he is doing a strenuous marathon every week and training twice a day in preparation for the solo jog from Sydney to Wollongong on March 7.

He’s noticed drastic changes in his mental and physical wellbeing.

“I needed an outlet for the pressures that come with my job,” Mr Soukie said.

“There are so many lawyers I see on a daily basis who are overweight and rundown. I knew I had to find a balance.

“I now feel absolutely phenomenal...my concentration and mental clarity...it sounds cliche but it is unbelievable what the human body is capable of when you put your mind to it.”

Mr Soukie said he hoped to inspire others.

“I want to prove that lack of time is never an excuse for achieving fitness goals and push the limits of what people might conceive as possible,” he said.
