The victim of paedophile pastor Frank Houston has urged police to complete their investigation into his son, Hillsong founder Brian Houston, who is accused of covering up his father’s crimes.

Brett Sengstock, 58, was sexually abused by Frank Houston, the powerful leader of the Pentecostal denomination Assemblies of God, in Sydney in the 1970s and 80s.

Mr Sengstock had previously testified before the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse about being sexually abused by Frank Houston when he would stay with Mr Sengstock’s family at Coogee.

“I still want to ask Brian Houston why he did not report his father to the police, why he did not tell them what his father did to me. He has known he abused me since 1999, I was just six, a child, and I’ve had to live with what he did my whole life,” Mr Sengstock, from Newcastle, told The Daily Telegraph.

“I’ve got terminal cancer, I want to see that man (Brian) held accountable while I’m on this Earth, Frank confessed to Brian what he did to me. I want justice in my lifetime. The police have been looking at this for more than two years.

“I’m grateful they have taken it on, but I want this nightmare to end.”

NSW police have confirmed to The Daily Telegraph that Brian Houston “continues to be investigated by officers attached to The Hills Police Area Command”.

“No further comment will be made while the investigation is ongoing,” they said.

The Commission found Brian Houston dealt personally with child sex allegations about his father in 1999 and 2000 and wrote a $10,000 cheque to Mr Sengstock without advising the church’s national executive.

Frank Houston was allowed to “publicly resign, without damage to his reputation or the reputation of Hillsong Church”, the royal commission found.
