Evil coward destroyed my family: Hawi widow on Doudar

The widow of slain ex-bikie boss Mick Hawi says the evil coward “who decided to play god” over the killing will suffer eternal punishment.

The grieving widow of slain former bikie boss Mick Hawi has told the “evil” Sydney man behind his murder: “Your punishment will be eternal and divine.”

Lone Wolf bikie Ahmad ‘Adam’ Doudar confessed to his role in the 37-year-old father of two’s daylight execution outside a Rockdale gym in 2018.

After enduring a third Father’s Day without her husband, Carolina Gonzalez told Doudar’s Supreme Court sentence hearing: “My sons are broken.”

“Their life is so empty now because of a bunch of cowards who decided to play god,” she said tearfully on Wednesday.

“You have taken the innocence of children away from them by showing them firsthand what an evil man can do.”

Ms Gonzalez made sure Doudar could see her as he appeared in court via video link from Cessnock prison before declaring: “You will never understand the excruciating pain that we have felt.”

“Imagine your children crying every single night because they miss their father. Because they can’t hug him, kiss him, talk to him, laugh with him, see him, tell them that they love him or have him say it back to them,” she said.

“Imagine your children turning cold because they don’t want to feel pain.

“This has destroyed them. That is on you.”

Ms Gonzalez told the court Hawi used to say “humiliation and weakness is far worse than death,” adding Doudar has become an embarrassment to his own family.

Doudar was originally accused of being the mastermind behind the infamous hit outside Rockdale Fitness First and charged with murder.

But on the day his trial was due to start in July the 40-year-old pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to murder.

“There will come a day, Ahmad, when you will stand before the ultimate judge and you will not be able to make a deal or plead to save yourself,” Ms Gonzalez said.

“Your punishment will be eternal and divine.”

Wearing a hijab, Ms Gonzalez said she would never understand why Doudar “went to the mosque to pray” on the day Hawi was gunned down, before quoting the quran “only for you Ahmad.”

“When those who disbelieve plot against thee to wound thee fatally, or to kill thee or to drive thee forth; they plan,” she said.

“God also plans, and god is the best of planners.”

Hawi’s sister Zeinab cried as she told Doudar she looked up to her big brother, who was smart, generous, and had a “big heart.”

“I don’t know how you sleep at night,” she said.

“I do pray that each and every time you close your eyes, you see my brother’s beautiful face.”

Zeinab Hawi said there are days when she and her two younger sisters struggle to get out of bed while coping with the trauma of losing their brother, adding: “He was our world.”

“You took a son, a father, a brother, an uncle, a husband, and everybody’s best friend,” she said.

“He was our protector. He was our backbone. He was our role model and he was our everything.”

Zeinab Hawi said Doudar had broken her mother and father’s hearts, as if he had ripped “a limb from their body.”

“No parent should ever have to bury their child,” she said.

Hawi’s father Ahmad also wrote a victim impact statement on behalf of himself and his wife Nahda, who slipped into depression after her son was “killed treacherously.”

Ahmad Hawi said their entire family had been transformed by the tragedy, and he still doesn’t know what drove “those heinous crimes.”

“I, the father of the wrongfully killed person, fully trust that you will not let this crime go unpunished,” he wrote in Arabic.

On Thursday a jury found Lone Wolf bikie Yusuf Nazlioglu and 32-year-old Jamal Eljaidi not guilty of Hawi’s February 2018 assassination.

Doudar was not called to give evidence during the trial, and the Crown relied on DNA evidence linking Nazlioglu and Eljaidi to the second getaway car in its circumstantial case.

This was rejected by the jurors, but in Doudar’s case his barrister Grant Brady SC argued he’d helped Nazlioglu out of a “misguided sense of loyalty.”

“The person who shot Hawi was Yusuf Nazlioglu... the driver of the vehicle at the time was Jamal Eljaidi,” Doudar’s agreed facts state.

Agreed facts say two days after the shooting, Nazlioglu, Doudar and Moustafa Salami loaded the second getaway car onto a white tow truck from a Bexley safe house.

The home was being rented by Doudar’s brother.

Salami then drove the truck and left the silver Toyota Aurion - which was last registered to his former girlfriend’s mother - outside an associate’s smash repair shop in Bexley, agreed facts state.

But on July 10 prosecutors withdrew his accessory after the fact to murder charge.

Court documents show Nazlioglu had been staying on the couch of Doudar’s luxury rented Circular Quay apartment in February, and the pair used five hire cars together between then and their arrest in August 2018.
