A man who dubbed himself a “sex master” and allegedly kept multiple women at a house in regional NSW was about to go shopping at Bunnings when police arrested him.
James Robert Davis, 40, was charged with slavery offences as part of a major Australian Federal Police operation that saw a raid carried out at his property in Armidale, in northern NSW.
Police allege the offences occurred while he was living in Maroubra in 2013.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal Davis had just arrived at the Armidale Bunnings on Thursday morning when AFP officers pounced.
He was taken to Armidale Police Station and charged with reducing a person to slavery, possessing a slave and causing a person to enter and remain in servitude.
Davis faced Inverell Local Court on Friday morning where he was refused bail.
Pictures taken in the aftermath of his arrest show Davis’ truck and trailer sitting stationary in the Bunnings carpark.
Witnesses said that after he arrived at the hardware store a group of plain clothed officers approached and arrested him.
Davis was in the company of a young woman when he was arrested.
She was taken away and questioned by the AFP, as part of their ongoing investigation.
In a statement, an AFP spokesman said they could not comment further because investigations were ongoing.
Davis deleted his social media accounts in recent months but before that regularly posted about his polyamorous love life.
At one point he also spoke of his dreams of having his own reality style TV show based on life inside “The House of Cadifor”.
Davis had transformed the Armidale house where he lived to include a basement filled with bondage equipment.
He called himself the “patriarchal overlord” of the home and requested he be referred to as “master”.
