Aaron Waters: Drug dealer’s high-end fashion for court date

Business owner Aaron Waters is facing the possibility of a lengthy jail sentence for drug dealing, but that didn’t stop him dressing to the nines at a Sydney court. The bodybuilder arrived sporting stylish Louis Vuitton shoes with a matching suit.

A Louis Vuitton-wearing drug dealer from Sydney’s northern beaches says going through NSW’s justice system has been a “pretty big wake-up call”.

Aaron Waters, 27, appeared in Downing Centre District Court on Thursday wearing loafers from the French fashion house after being committed for sentence on drug supply charges.

The court was told the ripped bodybuilder, who runs a Dee Why swimming pool business and once posed for a photo on a horse wading through the ocean, was involved in the supply of cocaine and MDMA out of a garage near Manly’s famous wharf.

Waters entered the witness box and claimed he was a changed man in front of Judge Donna Woodburne as his mother watched on from the public gallery.

“Your honour, since I’ve been released on bail it’s been the biggest wake-up call of my life,” he said.

“I’ve decided to rehabilitate myself, I’ve had a lot of shame on myself. It’s definitely a path I don’t want to go back down again.”

Agreed facts state that after his arrest in May last year police seized 1381g of powerful party drug MDMA in the garage, which is worth more than $275,000 on Sydney’s festival and nightclub scene.

Prosecutors accepted they could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Waters knew the amount of MDMA was not less than a large commercial quantity.

Officers also found at least 145g of cocaine and more than $100,000 in cash.

Despite this, Waters told the court that business had improved at his company Superior Pool Care after his arrest.

“Ever since I’ve been out on bail I’ve increased my business, (I’ve put on) extra workers,” he said. “I haven’t done anything wrong since then … it was a pretty big wake-up call for me.”

However, prosecutors argued he was only remorseful because he had been caught and was only concerned about himself and his business.

Before his world came crashing down with his arrest, Waters readily showed off his affluence, sharing dozens of photos of his luxury lifestyle to more than 22,000 of his Instagram followers.

The court was told he had been a heavy user of cocaine, using one or two grams “every second day” and spending thousands of dollars a week on his addiction.

He will return to court next week to be sentenced and is facing the possibility of a lengthy jail stint.

If he is jailed, he will have to hand over his designer shoes at a jail’s reception before he is issued prison greens.
