A former primary school teacher indecently assaulted two young students before making sex tapes using a blow up doll in school uniform with various pupils’ faces plastered onto it.

Paedophile James Treasure, 42, on Monday admitted to sexually touching the two girls in 2014 and 2015 and producing disturbing child pornography for almost a decade using hidden cameras.

Treasure was previously sentenced to four years jail in Queensland after police spotted him secretly filming children on Noosa beach in July 2018.

He was convicted of two counts of making child abuse material during his week on the Sunshine Coast, including up-skirting young girls at popular shopping centres and tourist hotspots with covert cameras attached to his shoes.

While in police custody in Queensland, investigators in Victoria searched the former PE teacher’s Melbourne home where they discovered; a child-like sex doll wearing the uniform of the school he taught at, three watches with spy cameras attached, 10 masks featuring the faces of former and current students and a diary chronicling his thoughts and interactions with his students.

Police also seized a hard-drive containing more than 90 explicit videos of children’s genitals, including several involving his students, as well more than 30,000 videos and images of school activities between 2007 and 2015.

During a pre-sentence hearing, the County Court heard investigators also discovered videos of Treasure having sex with the child-like sex doll while it was wearing the masks with the photos of his students on it.

Treasure also admitted to indecently assaulting two young girls in his classroom while pretending to “tickle” them.

The victims were interviewed by police following Treasure’s arrest in Queensland.

The mother of one victim said her daughter’s life has been drastically altered since the assault and the now-teenager has since turned to alcohol and self-harm as she grapples with the trauma.

“She was sad, angry and confused,” the mother wrote in a victim impact statement.

Judge Frances Hogan said the offending was “very very disturbing” with many of the victims unaware they had been filmed over the years.

“It’s just an enormous breach of trust, there’s no underestimating the fallout of the offending,”Judge Hogan said.

“The most grave aspect … is the utilisation of his position as a primary school teacher whom parents are entitled to expect will keep their child safe.”

Defence barrister Philip Dunn QC, said his client clearly had pedophilic disorder and needed help.

“What he thought was a problem or a secret, is obviously bigger than he thought,” Mr Dunn said.

Mr Dunn said Treasure had demonstrated remorse and contrition in pleading guilty early and had the support of his family.

Treasure was extradited to Victoria after his release from prison in Queensland in late January this year.

The matter will return to court in March.
