A woman who claimed her fear of one of the state’s most evil rapists was ignored by police has pleaded guilty to trying to smuggle $100,000 worth of drugs into a NSW prison.

Alexandra Mastropetros, who also goes by the name Laila Elmaaraoui, was visiting an inmate at Hunter Correctional Centre in January, when a search of her Louis Vuitton handbag revealed four balloons.

Hidden inside two of the balloons were 50 strips each of buprenorphine – a drug used for treating heroin addiction.

Court documents revealed that in the two other balloons were the drug ice.

Mastropetros, 27, told police the strips, which had a street value of $100,000 were for personal use to help her “calm down”.

She also claimed the ice, which was easily distinguishable “by the shape … the strips are flat, the ice isn’t” was also for personal use.

Mastropetros told police she wasn’t aware she couldn’t take drugs into the prison, court documents stated.

In Bankstown Local Court on Thursday, Mastropetros pleaded guilty to supplying an indictable quantity of drugs.

She will be sentenced in November over the drug supply charge.

In an unrelated matter, an Apprehended Violence Order preventing Mastropetros from contacting convicted gang rapist Mohammed Skaf was briefly mentioned and remains in place.

Skaf told police Mastropetros called him from a private number in early May, and “threatened him to withdraw a statement” he had made about a mutual friend.

He claimed the woman, who he insists he was in a relationship with for two months earlier this year, told him she would “f his life up” which left him feeling fearful.

Mastropetros, who denies ever being in a relationship with Skaf also went to police in May citing fears of Skaf, but claims police ignored her.

However, Mastropetros told The Daily Telegraph outside court that she has now given a “lengthy statement” to police this week over her alleged fears of Skaf.

The pair met in January, and Mastropetros claims that when their friendship soured, he bombarded her with text messages, emails and phone calls which left her feeling anxious and intimidated.

Detectives from Bankstown police took a statement from Mastropetros, and an investigation has been launched.
