Woman, baby allegedly kidnapped in Greenacre domestic violence incident

A man has spent the night behind bars after allegedly assaulting a woman and kidnapping her and a baby in Sydney’s south west.

A man will front court after a woman and baby were allegedly kidnapped in Sydney’s south west.

The ordeal allegedly began on Sunday around 9am when a 28-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man began arguing at a home in Greenacre, police said in a statement.

Police will allege the man hit the woman multiple times as she tried to leave the home with her eight-month-old son, however she was allegedly forced into the man’s car.

The woman attempted to escape from the car twice, calling out to passers-by before being forced back into the car.

The man allegedly drove the woman to her home in Sadlier before leaving.

Police were told about the allegations of assault and kidnapping and arrested the man at a home in Greenacre around 8pm.

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with detaining a person to obtain an advantage, common assault, breaching an AVO and breaching bail.

He will front Bankstown Local Court on Monday.
