A RAAF member has been charged over the alleged grooming of two teenage girls, accused of buying them alcohol and drugs and sending them explicit photographs of himself.
The man, aged in his 50s, is also alleged to have been in possession of child abuse material when Port Stephens-Hunter detectives raided his home on Tuesday.
The man was arrested as he drove his car about 12.40pm on Tuesday.
It followed an investigation into reports received on Sunday that a man was allegedly grooming two girls, aged 15 and 16.
The man was taken to Raymond Terrace police station as a search warrant was conducted on his home.
Police allegedly seized electronic items, drugs, firearms and ammunition during the search.
All have been sent away for further forensic analysis.
The man was later charged with grooming a child for unlawful sexual activity, possessing child abuse material, three counts of possessing a prohibited drug and six counts of possessing or using a prohibited weapon without permit and holder of Category A or B licence not have approved storage.
He appeared in Raymond Terrace Local Court on Wednesday, where he was refused bail to reappear in the same court on January 17.
