A Sydney woman is alleged to have used power tools to “butcher and dismember” her husband, placing his body parts in plastic bags and then dispersing them in various bins in south west Sydney.

Police will allege 53-year-old Nirmeen Noufl planned her husband’s Mamdouh’s murder, and that she was motivated by financial gain.

Bankstown Police were initially called to a home on Juno Parade in July 2023, following reports from relatives that 62-year-old Mamdouh had not been seen since May that year.

After initial inquiries, which included a public appeal for information, detectives attached to State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad established Strike Force Tannerie to investigate his disappearance.

Homicide Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty told media on Saturday that police became suspicious of Ms Noufl after she told contradicting stories about her husband’s whereabouts, including that he was overseas.

The investigation is being conducted jointly with the NSW Crime Commission.

Police will allege in court that Ms Noufl, who ran an NDIS business, used a variety of knives and power tools, including circular saws, to cut up her husband’s body, which has not been found.

They will also allege that she was impersonating her dead husband on social media and his phone.

“The accused had taken his phone and social media accounts, reporting he was still alive,” Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said.

“Police allege she butchered and dismembered his body, placing his body parts in plastic bags and disposing the remains in various rubbish bins, residential areas and industrial areas in south west Sydney.

“There was significant cleaning of the house and reflooring of the house. We will allege in court she was solely responsible for his murder and dismemberment.”

Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said Ms Noufl had accumulated “unexplained wealth” following her husband’s death, and had purchased multiple investment properties in the middle east.

He said police would allege she’s a person “who manipulates people and manipulates the truth”.

Ms Noufl was arrested at a hospital in Bankstown on Thursday and was taken to Bankstown Police Station where she was charged with murder DV on Friday morning.

At the same time, strike force detectives executed a crime scene warrant at the Juno Parade home.

Noufl appeared before Bankstown Local Court on Friday where she was refused bail. She will return to Burwood Local Court on December 11.

Investigations under Strike Force Tannerie continue.
