A wanted former member of the notorious Brothers For Life gang has been arrested after allegedly jumping his back fence when Strike Force Raptor officers arrived at his front door.

Omar Ajaj, 32, who has “MEOC” – for Middle Eastern Organised Crime – tattooed across his throat was wanted on an outstanding warrant when police arrived at the Auburn home around 12pm Tuesday.

While police say those involved have links to the Hamzy crime family they are not directly involved in their operations and believe it is not related to any ongoing feud between them and the Alameddines.

“While police were speaking with the occupants through the front door, officers became aware that the 32-year-old man fled the home over the back fence,” police said in a statement.

Ajaj only reached the rear yard of his neighbour’s property before he was arrested by Raptor officers.

Ajaj was taken to Auburn Police Station before being taken by paramedics to hospital for treatment to a previous injury.

After he was discharged from hospital, he was charged with false representation resulting in a police investigation and not disclosing driver’s details.

“Police will allege in court that the man made a false report of a carjacking following two fail-to-stop crashes at Auburn in February,” the police statement said.

Ajaj has longstanding loose links to the now-defunct Brothers For Life as well as the gang’s founding family, the Hamzys.

He was injured in a 2013 shooting at Revesby Heights which claimed the life of Mahmoud Hamzy, the cousin of notorious Supermax inmate Bassam Hamzy.

He is due to face Parramatta Local Court today.
