Wallsend stabbing: Police probe links with Bunn Street stabbing and brawl in Bousfield Road

A man, 41, was found with wounds to his wrist and chest at the same time police were called to reports of a street fight nearby.

Detectives are investigating whether a brawl outside a Wallsend house and the discovery of a man with multiple stab wounds nearby are linked.

Emergency services were called to Bunn St about 6.35pm on Tuesday after a 41-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his wrist and chest.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

A man, 41, suffered multiple wounds to his wrist and chest at Wallsend.

Police said officers were also called to reports of an alleged brawl outside a home in Bousfield St around the same time.

Both scenes are within a few hundred metres of each other.

“Detectives from Newcastle City police have commenced an investigation into how the man came to be injured, including whether the incidents are linked,’’ a spokeswoman said in a statement.

“Anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the nearby area between 5.30pm and 7pm is urged to contact Waratah police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.’’
