Two women accused of service station armed robberies with axe, knives

The daughter of a surgeon was one of two 23-year-old women accused of three armed robberies at service stations where employees were allegedly threatened with an axe and knives.

The daughter of a Wollongong doctor was one of two young women who allegedly robbed three service stations armed with an axe and a knife on Friday night.

Eleanor Rohana Ashford, 23, will remain behind bars on remand after withdrawing her bail application in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.

She appeared there with co-accused Sarah Canceri, 23, over an alleged robbery spree on service stations in south west Sydney.

According to court douments, at 11.45pm, Liverpool Police were called to a service station on Heathcote Rd, Moorebank, after money and cigarettes were stolen by two people armed with an axe and knives who escaped in a Mitsubishi Lancer.

About 12.15am, police were called to another service station on Newbridge Rd, Moorebank, over a similar incident where cash and cigarettes were stolen.

According to court documents, the third robbery occurred at a service station on Camden Valley Way, Edmondson Park about 1.15am where an employee was threatened with a hammer by two people who fled the scene with cash.

Police arrested the women with the dog squad on Commissioners Dr, Denham Court about 1.30am where the Lancer was also found.

During a search of the vehicle, police seized number plates – believed to be stolen – knives, an axe, cash and cigarettes.

Both were taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with three counts of robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

Ms Canceri’s social media page shows the two young women in various intimate shots with each other, including several where one is kissing the other.

The court heard both women have been diagnosed with mental health conditions.

In court, Ms Ashford’s lawyer said her father was surgeon Dr Bruce Ashford who was prepared to drive his daughter to Wollongong Police Station to report daily if she was granted bail.

However, the application was withdrawn and Ms Ashford was ordered to appear in Liverpool Local Court on May 19.

Ms Canceri did not apply for bail and was ordered to appear in Liverpool Local Court on Monday.
