Arrested Comanchero bikie boss Mark Buddle already had the attention of authorities in Northern Cyprus, according to Turkish Government officials.

But it was an official report that was put before the Turkish Interior Minister Ziya Ozturkler that prompted Buddle’s shock arrest last month, and deportation on Tuesday by charter fight.

“We have started the deport process of Buddle in line with this report, ” he revealed in a media interview.

Despite Buddle being deported, he also said investigations into Buddle’s activities in the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus would be the subject of further investigations by the General Directorate of Police (PGM) and the results which would be made public in the future.

Mr Ozturkler said he is very serious about national security and he recognised there has been a problem with individuals allegedly using security gaps to settle in Turkey.

The Minister revealed more than 600 people have been deported from Turkey in the past four months because they may have been involved with mafia or gangs in their own country.

“We started work to detect people who committed crimes in their own country on their entry to the country,” Mr Ozturkler said.

Turkish officials have confirmed they handed Buddle over to Australian police on Tuesday night.

Mr Ozturkler confirmed Turkish security handed Buddle over to Australian police at 11pm on Tuesday night at Darwin airport.

Buddle was then arrested by the Australian Federal Police in relation to the alleged importation of 160 kilograms of cocaine worth $40 million in Victoria last year

A number of people have already been arrested over the same importation which the AFP will allege was orchestrated by a syndicate operating between Hong Kong and Turkey.

Buddle’s former partner Mel Ter. Wisscha was also detained after Buddle was grabbed in a top-secret mission which involved police coming through the window of his upscale home in the seaside port of Iskele in Girne. He was held in a Turkish prison until the AFP managed to get an INTERPOL Red Notice.

Ms Ter. Wisscha was stopped by police in a taxi on the road between her luxurious home in Bitez and the hotel district of Bodrum last weekend. She was then taken into custody and driven the 124km to the deportation centre because she was deemed a foreigner who posed a risk to public order and security, officials said.

She is being held at the Ula Geri Gönderme Merkezi removal centre in Mugla, southwest Turkey, a single-storey complex with about 88 men, women and children with no internet, no computers, no mobile phone access.
