A Sydney man has pleaded guilty to murder after 28-year-old Ross Houllis was lured to an underground car park to sell a pair of AirPods and bashed to death.

Sami Hamdach, on Monday, pleaded guilty to murdering Mr Houllis at the eleventh hour before his murder trial was set to begin in the NSW Supreme Court.

The courts have previously heard Mr Houllis was lured to a Wakely carpark in Sydney‘s west by a group and beaten on Valentines Day, 2020.

Hamdach‘s girlfriend, Loubna Kawtharani, last year avoided jail for helping to lure Mr Houllis to the fatal encounter.

A police fact sheet, in her case, stated Hamdach intended to confront Mr Houllis after he realised he’d been sold fake Apple AirPods for $150 via Facebook marketplace.

The court overseeing Kawtharani‘s case heard Mr Houllis suffered catastrophic brain injuries in the melee that followed and he died days later in Liverpool Hospital.

Kawtharani was given a two-year corrective order after pleading guilty to accessory before the fact to an offence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Hamdach remains in police custody with his case set to return to the NSW Supreme Court next month.
