Skyview Homes’ Jake Williams charged with domestic violence

A former luxury property developer is facing serious domestic violence allegations, with a planned court hearing collapsing after the man was admitted to hospital.

Domestic violence a ‘worldwide scourge’: Former Labor senator

An ex-residential developer facing allegations he choked and assaulted a female partner has been admitted to a psychiatric ward shortly before he was set to defend the charges.

Police have charged former Skyview Homes builder Jake Williams with 19 domestic violence offences pertaining to his brief relationship with a woman dating back to 2024.

A planned two-day hearing at which Williams intended to fight the charges was unable to proceed after a court heard he had been involuntarily admitted to a psychiatric ward due to mental health concerns.

Documents tendered to Sutherland Local Court reveal Williams, 36, is facing four counts of intentional choking, three of assault causing actual bodily harm, four of common assault, seven of contravening an apprehended domestic violence order, and one of intimidation.

The female complainant, who Williams is prevented from contacting at all under the terms of a strict apprehended domestic violence order, is not his wife Jade.

Williams denies the charges, which pertain to incidents alleged to have occurred between April and July 2024.

At court on February 11, the intended hearing was vacated as the court heard Williams was in hospital as an involuntary patient.

The matter was adjourned for four weeks for Williams to be discharged and seek further legal advice.

A new hearing date will be set on March 12.

Williams was the head of residential property development outfit Skyview Homes until it was wound up in November 2022.

Documents from the liquidator in 2022 estimated the company owed six unsecured creditors $1,967,408 – and had just $21,252 in assets.

The business was reported as having $2007 cash in the bank, and claims including $731,249 in unsecured debts, $1.2m in related party debts, and $36,160 in tax debt.

Publicly accessible documents on the Sutherland Shire Council development tracker reveal a business called “Built By Skyview”, which is still a registered company, submitted plans for a luxury building with five whole-floor three-bedroom apartments at 35 Tullimbar Rd, Cronulla.

Williams’ wife Jade and a man named David Driver are listed as the shareholders of “Built By Skyview” in ASIC documents.

“Built By Skyview” was also listed as the developer behind a planned development with nine units called Luna, at 13 Arthur Ave, Cronulla, which has since been withdrawn from sale.

Williams also made headlines in 2020 with his ambitious five-bedroom development in Harrington Park, which included an underground triple garage, spotted gum timber flooring, and a gas-heated pool with a glass spa and children’s wading area.

The Balinese-inspired home was described as one-of-a-kind and ultimately sold for $2.2m in August 2020 after originally listing in 2019 at $2.78m.
