A glam prison guard will face her “scorned” ex-jailbird beau in court who is alleging she secretly performed fellatio on him in a storeroom.

Suspended officer Melissa Goodwin stood out at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday, wearing a figure-hugging, black dress and her hair styled in long, blonde cascading curls.

The 25-year-old denies she gave inmate Corey London oral sex on five separate occasions between November 2019 and April 2020 in a prison storeroom at Silverwater’s Metropolitan Remand Centre.

She is accused of “kissing, touching, flirting” and talking with London on the phone and via the prison intercom, the court heard.

Goodwin pleaded guilty to engaging in an “intimate relationship” with London causing a safety risk by sending him a “boyfriend-girlfriend” handwritten love letter.

But her barrister Robert Webb told the court the relationship was never sexual. He said they would dispute the facts in the two-day hearing.

Goodwin pleaded not guilty to smuggling in contraband for London including a packet of White Ox tobacco, two cigarette lighters and Extra chewing gum.

London agreed to give evidence on the alleged romantic affair after he heard of her new relationship with aspiring rapper and ex-con Caleb Valeri, the court heard.

He is due be brought to court in person on Wednesday from Parklea Prison for day two of the hearing.

State prosecutor Timothy George, who maintains the relationship was sexual, told the court London was clearly a “scorned lover”.

“(London) became aware of what he considered to be some kind of relationship with (Valeri)...he became very cranky and angry,” Mr George said.

“It goes directly to motivation...making a statement and approaching the police. At the outset he is a scorned lover.”

Detectives put to Goodwin, in a video played to court, that London told her he liked her makeup, the way she looked and requested she wear her hair up and purple nail polish, his favourite colour.

“No comment,” she responded.

Mr Webb told the court his client did not respond to most questions the detectives asked, including whether Valeri was a Rebels Outlaw Motorcycle Club member or a rapper.

“She doesn’t want to talk about him being a rapper...she doesn’t want to talk about him being a Rebel...she doesn’t want to talk about anything in particular,” Mr Webb told the court.

But she did tell the detectives inmates have made up lies about her in the past.

“Do you know how many inmates have made up stuff about me?” She said in the video played to the court.

“Of course (London’s) lying...none of that ever happened. I don’t know where this is coming from.”
