Shocking vision has captured the moment a man with a machine gun jumped out of an Audi and peppered a suburban home in Sydney’s southwest with more than 40 bullets.

The brazen shooting unfolded around 2.20am on MacKellar Street, Casula, when a gunman pulled up outside a home in a dark-coloured Audi and started firing with a machine gun.

Huge bangs rang out, while the flash from the gun shots illuminated the residential street.

In an unusual move, the alleged getaway driver filmed the shooting from inside the Audi, screaming “quick, quick, quick, get in, get in” before the gun jams.

The gunman fiddles with the weapon for a few seconds, before unleashing another round of shots, as the driver becomes more impatient.

“Quick bro,” he screamed again. “Drop it, let’s go!”

The video from inside the car abruptly ends, while neighbours say they heard the car “screeching” away and “speeding off” in the moments that followed.

“I was sh*t scared,” a neighbour told the Telegraph. “Never heard anything like it. Sounded like a movie. I didn’t even want to peek out the window.”

Liverpool City Police Area Command Superintendent Scott Tanner described the incident as “it’s reckless, it’s dangerous”.

“We won’t stand for it,” he said.

“There are a number of families that reside in that street and all it takes is one bullet to go astray and it can cause massive heart ache for families.”

Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the shooting, with the residents believed to have moved out three weeks ago.

It’s understood they – and several former residents of the home – are known to police, with officers investigating underworld links.

In a statement, police said the incident is believed to be targeted, and that attack on the home was deliberate.

Detectives are still on the hunt for the black Audi – which was last seen driving west along Leacocks Lane.

Unlike other gangland shootings, the car has not been found burnt out in the aftermath.
