A 15-year-old boy has been charged as the seventh person allegedly involved in the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man in the Illawarra region earlier this year.

Emergency services were called to Saturn Crescent in Dunmore shortly before 3pm on January 28, after the man was found with serious stab wounds.

Despite efforts by paramedics, he could not be revived.

Police allege the man was stabbed while being assaulted by a group of people who then fled in an Isuzu MU-X, which was later recovered in Albion Park Rail and seized for forensic examination.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, launched Strike Force Feods to investigate the attack.

Six people – a 38-year-old woman, a 15-year-old boy, three 13-year-old boys, and a 12-year-old girl – had previously been charged over the incident and remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, police arrested another 15-year-old boy at Lake Illawarra Police Station just after 8.30pm on Monday.

He was charged with accessory after the fact to murder; armed with intent to commit an indictable offence; and face blackened or disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The teenager was refused bail and will appear before a Children’s Court on Tuesday.

Investigations under Strike Force Feods are ongoing.
