A man who police claim was found pouring petrol over a vehicle has been charged after a boat and car were engulfed in flames following a string of suspicious fires across Sydney’s south.
Emergency services were called to Vista St, Sans Souci at 1am on Friday following reports of a boat fire.
NSW Fire and Rescue crews found the boat sustained some damage from the blaze before police arrived on the scene.
A short time later, police patrolling Ramsgate Rd at Ramsgate report seeing a man pouring petrol over a vehicle.
Officers later uncovered a Toyota Kluger well alight in a carpark on The Promenade, Sans Souci.
A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception, three counts of damaging property by fire, armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, and destroying or damaging property.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday August 17.
