A relative of Australia’s most wanted man, suspected drug trafficker Hakan “Big Hux” Ayik, could be jailed for years after admitting to using the AN0M app to help organise an ice deal in a Sydney car park and writing: “alright no worries … let’s go sell some f**king meth”.
Yusuf Ayik, 22, of Brighton-Le-Sands, had previously been involved in the youth wing of the Labor Party and had served as Macquarie University Labor Society’s assistant secretary before he was arrested in the international AN0M sting in June last year.
Ayik is a cousin of “Big Hux”, a fugitive hiding out in Turkey who authorities claimed had urged other criminals to use AN0M while not realising that police were able to read millions of messages on the app in real time. Yusuf Ayik is not accused of being invovled in his cousin’s wrongdoing.
Agreed facts state last year Yusuf Ayik was using AN0M to speak to 24-year-old Ayhan Dogan, who allegedly asked Ayik if he could drive him to a drug deal to sell 1kg of ice.
“Alright mad,” Ayik wrote back.
Dogan – who is also a relative of “Big Hux” - then allegedly told Ayik they should meet up to discuss their plan, to which Ayik replied: “Alright no worries … let’s go sell some f**king meth”.
Meanwhile, Dogan was also allegedly speaking to another AN0M user called Clark. He revealed to Clark he wanted to rip off the buyer in the planned drug deal by selling them fake drugs.
“Call it off bro don’t do it,” Clark urged Dogan.
Dogan allegedly then wrote “plenty money ain’t enough money … hehehe” next to a cash face emoji.
Ayik later drove Dogan to a car park in Rockdale. Dogan allegedly handed over a white package to 34-year-old Jiun Loong Chai.
Australian Federal Police officers were secretly watching the deal and took photos.
Dogan later allegedly filmed himself counting cash using a machine. He allegedly told Clark he had ripped off Chai for $75,000 by actually selling him soda crystals instead of ice, according to the facts.
But Clark convinced Dogan to correct the alleged drug rip and he returned the money to Chai at a meeting while Ayik was present.
Ayik then threw out the white package that had been given to Chai into a garbage bin.
He was later arrested during a raid at his home.
Ayik, who is being legally represented by solicitor Michael Blair, is facing a possible long jail stint when he is sentenced in Downing Centre District Court on Thursday.
He has pleaded guilty to taking part in the supply of a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug.
Dogan and Chai are charged with commercial drug supply. They remain before the courts.
