An airline employee was rushed to hospital after she fell up to six metres from an aerobridge at Sydney Airport on Saturday.
The incident occurred just before 1pm as the woman, a Qantas customer service worker believed to be aged in her 40s or 50s, was on the aerobridge that was to service one of the airline’s flights at Terminal 3.
Multiple ambulance crews, Australian Federal Police officers plus airline and airport staff rushed to the scene before the woman was rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for emergency treatment.
Investigations are now underway as to how the woman fell.
A spokeswoman for Sydney Airport said the circumstances surrounding the incident were now under investigation,
“Earlier today an airline employee fell from an aerobridge in the T3 Domestic Terminal,” the spokeswoman said.
“They were attended to by first-aid responders and transferred by ambulance to hospital for further treatment,” she said.
“Safe Work NSW has also been notified,” she said. “Our focus is on the welfare of the injured staff member and assisting Safe Work NSW with their inquiries.
A Qantas spokeswoman said: “A Qantas airport customer service team member was injured in an incident at Sydney Airport today and our focus is on supporting them at this time.”
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said multiple crews attended the scene to treat the woman before she was rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
