Police have made a dramatic arrest on a major highway in Sydney’s west after a man allegedly threatened a woman known to him, leading to an intense manhunt on the M4 Motorway overnight.
A woman contacted police just after 5.30pm to report alleged threats from a man known to her.
Officers from Campbelltown police responded to the call and conducted inquiries and about 8.30pm, as part of their response spotted a 43-year-old man inside a parked vehicle on the M4 Motorway in Eastern Creek.
Soon after at least six police cars and officers from the Riot Squad sprung into action and arrested the man.
He was issued a Court Attendance Notice for the possession of a prohibited drug and for driving while his licence was cancelled.
He is expected to appear at Wednesday Mt Druitt Local Court on August 21.
During the arrest, two vehicles driving past the incident collided with each other and then hit two marked police vehicles.
Minor damage was occasioned to the police vehicles, but the two civilian vehicles required towing.
Inquiries continue
