Police are on the hunt for a man in his 20s who threatened an sex shop worker with a knife before taking off with a bondage kit.

Police were called to ‘Everything Adult’ in St Marys around 2pm on Thursday afternoon, following reports of an armed robbery.

It’s understood a man, dressed in a long-sleeve jacket and cap burst into the store and threatened staff with a knife.

A quick scuffle took place before the man ran through the store, grabbed a bondage kit and fled out the door falling flat on his stomach.

The female shop attendant involved in the incident, who wished to remain unnamed, said she “instinctively” fought back when the man with attempted to run off with several large products.

“Honestly it was so stupid of me, I should have let him go,” the woman told the Telegraph.

“I hit the duress button and told him to just give back the product and I’ll let him leave the store quietly.”

“Then he said, ‘I’ve got a knife, I’ve got a knife’ but I couldn’t see the knife and he was holding the product in his hand so I just jumped and grabbed his bag.”

The woman said the man ran down the front entrance steps, tripping and landing stomach first onto the street.

“His bag spilt out onto the street and there I could see a sort of flip knife had fallen onto the ground,” she said.

“I was still trying to get the product back that was the only thought in my head. I was screaming all sorts of things at him calling him a thief.”

Eventually the man managed to escape with the products, the store manager said.

After taking photos of the bag and its contents, the woman returned to the shop and called Triple-zero.

“The only thing is no one helped me,” she said.

“It was the middle of the day, so many people saw what happened and no one tried to help me.”

“I’m a bit shaken up but mostly I’m fine. This isn’t the first time I’ve dealt with violent customers.

“It’s the sad reality of retail now and it’s only getting worse.”

The Everything Adult store was closed for the afternoon as police investigated the incident, while the Polair chopper searched for the suspect from above.

Police are today continuing the search for the man, who was described as wearing a long-sleeve parker, black or grey shorts, joggers and a black cap.
