Police establish multiple crime scenes after man shot in Bidwill

At least two crime scenes have been established after a man was shot in the leg during broad daylight in Sydney.

A man has been shot in the leg during broad daylight in Sydney’s west, with police on the hunt for three people they wish to speak to about the incident.

Just after 2pm on Sunday, six police cars raced to Carlisle Ave, Bidwill after reports of a shooting.

There, police found a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound to his leg at a home on the street, and were told he had been injured nearby befire walking to the home to alert the occupants.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to Westmead Hospital.

Investigators are probing reports of a confrontation between the man and a group of three others in a nearby laneway, after local residents reported hearing gunshots and saw several people running from the scene.

“We heard the three shots and a couple of seconds later three guys were running behind the shops up the footpath,” one resident told 7 News.

“I heard three shots, I saw three people running through the alleyway,” another said.

Investigators have yet to speak to the victim, who was last night undergoing emergency surgery.

“We have begun an investigation into the shooting, but as yet have no idea of the circumstances surrounding the incident,’’ a local officer said.

Multiple crime scenes were set up across Carlisle Ave and a neighbouring laneway, where it’s believed investigators came across an intact bullet, several casings and a pool of blood.

At the rear of Palms Pacific Supermarket in Bidwill Square police cordoned off a small park and laneway, while a short distance away another crime scene was set up at a block of units where detectives and uniform officers were questioning the residents of the block as well as neighbours.

Forensic experts and tactical police were on the scene until late on Sunday, combing the area for evidence.
