Police allege Pindimar man was drunk and speeding when he crashed in a car, killing a Bundabah woman

A man was allegedly drunk and travelling at more than 45kmh over the speed limit when he was involved in a collision on a quiet road near Tea Gardens which killed a woman, police say.
The 46-year-old man, who had lived in the small nearby hamlet of Pindimar on the northern banks of Port Stephens, survived the October 4 crash after being hauled from the wreckage and hospitalised.
Police said that a 64-year-old woman, who came from the adjoining suburb of Bundabah, had stopped her Nissan Dualis on the shoulder of Pindimar Rd near the intersection with Myall Way about 10.25am.
Crash investigators will allege that the Pindimar man was travelling more than 45kmh above the speed limit when his Subaru Forrester struck the woman’s car.
She died at the scene.
A crime scene was established by Port Stephens-Hunter police district officers and an extensive investigation commenced.
The man attended Manly police station on Monday and was charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death – speed greater than 45 over limit; dangerous driving occasioning death – drive speed dangerous; dangerous driving occasioning death – drive under the influence; dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous; negligent driving (occasioning death); and drive with a middle range PCA.
He has been granted conditional bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on January 24.
