A Sydney pharmacist is fighting for life in hospital after unintentionally drinking liquid meth disguised as wine in bottles sent to his inner west pharmacy.

Hans Morkos, 43, collapsed on the floor of the Annandale Pharmacy on Parramatta Rd on January 31 after drinking the toxic drop.

The father-of-two is now in a coma in a serious condition in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

No one has been charged in relation to the drugs Mr Morkos consumed.

But in a dramatic twist, his brother, Amir Banoub, has now been charged with intimidating the woman who found Mr Morkos unconscious on the floor of the pharmacy.

The 37-year-old woman attended Glebe Police Station on Monday — two weeks after Mr Morkos’ collapse — and alleged she had been threatened by Banoub, 42, at her Campsie home earlier that evening. Police allege that Banoub demanded money from the woman.

He was arrested the next day and taken to Campsie Police Station, where he was later charged with stalking/intimidating and intending fear or physical harm.

He was granted conditional police bail and is due to face Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday, March 1.

It is believed misadventure led to Mr Morkos’ “medical episode”, when he drank from one of the bottles, unaware they were filled with the potentially deadly drug.

Methylamphetamine is often imported in liquid form before being turned into the crystallised variety commonly sold on the streets.

Mr Morkos’ family and friends gathered at St Mary and St Mina Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Bexley last week for a prayer vigil, as he continues to undergo treatment in hospital.

In a statement, NSW Police said they had become aware of his “medical episode” while investigating the allegations of intimidation by his brother.

“The man was located by the 37-year-old woman, who contacted NSW Ambulance paramedics. He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he remains in an induced coma,” a NSW Police spokeswoman said.

“An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s injuries is currently under way.

“As part of ongoing inquiries, a crime scene warrant was executed at the business and a number of items were seized for further examination.”

Documents obtained by The Daily Telegraph show that in the wake of his medical episode, the pharmacy owned by Mr Morkos was placed in the hands of administrators. It is understood this move came as a result of a court order because of his condition and not as a result of any business failings.

The Egyptian-born pharmacist’s situation has shaken the local business community along Parramatta Rd, with a number of workers in the area saying he was a respected man and they had been “saddened” by the incident.
