A woman and a teenage boy will face court after they allegedly broke into a home in the state’s central west and stole a car earlier this week.
Police allege between 8pm on Tuesday and 12.45am on Wednesday morning, a number of people broke into a property on McLachlan St, Orange, and allegedly took the keys to a Honda Civic and drove off in it.
The car was later found in the backyard of a home on Pindarri Place about 1pm on Wednesday.
A 16-year-old boy and a 34-year-old woman were both arrested at the scene and taken to Orange Police Station.
They were both arrested under Operation Regional Mongoose, a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime, mainly from young offenders.
The boy was charged with two counts of entering a building or land with intent to commit an indictable offence, drive a stolen car and driving unlicensed.
He was refused bail and will face the children’s court on Thursday.
The woman was charged with travelling in a stolen car, a serious indictable offence of receiving stolen property and fraud.
She was given strict conditional bail and will face Orange Local Court on Thursday, March 6.
