A woman has been charged with murder after her six-month-old baby boy was pulled unconscious and unresponsive from water at an Oran Park home earlier this year.
The woman, aged 33, was charged on Tuesday night, more than three months after the baby died.
Her matter was briefly mentioned at Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday but she did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody.
It’s understood she was charged while in custody at the Forensic Hospital at Malabar.
The infant boy was found unresponsive and pulled out of water at a home in Oran Park, about 4pm on May 20 after police responded to a concern-for-welfare call.
Paramedics rushed to the scene to treat the baby and give him CPR before racing him to Campbelltown Hospital in a critical condition, but he could not be revived.
A crime scene was established at the property and the woman was transferred to Liverpool Hospital where she was assessed under police guard.
The woman is due to reappear before the same court on November 24.
