A 22 year old man on a learner drivers licence has been charged while another remains at large after the duo allegedly threatened two people in separate incidents with a pistol, stole a car and subsequently crashed it overnight.

Emergency services responded to reports of an armed robbery during which a 43-year-old woman was allegedly struck around the head and face with a replica firearm on Mona Vale Pl, Woodbine.

Police said the woman was approached by two men after parking her car around 10pm before allegedly being assaulted. The men allegedly fled the scene on foot towards Queenscliff Drive after concerned neighbours called the police after hearing screaming.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene before transporting her to Campbelltown Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The two men allegedly staged a second attack an hour later against a 23-year-old man exiting his car in his driveway when he came face-to-face with the armed men.

They allegedly stole the 23-year-old man’s phone and keys and forced the man to start the car before driving off in the stolen vehicle – which they soon after crashed into a tree on Blaxland Rd, Campbelltown.

Police said the men were seen exiting the car and fleeing after the crash, before they arrested a 22-year-old man along Badgally Road following a short foot pursuit.

During a canvass of the area police allegedly located a gel blaster pistol submerged in a shallow body of water in the Bow Bowing Causeway.

The 22-year-old man was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with five offences including assault with intent to rob while armed with a dangerous weapon, robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, and possessing an unauthorised pistol.

He was also charged with learner not accompanied by full licensed driver, drive recklessly or in a dangerous manner

Police will allege that the 22-year-old man produced the pistol on both occasions and was driving the car on a learner’s licence at the time of the crash.

Investigations into the other man accused are continuing
