A man is still in recovery from a savage machete attack as police continue to probe the alleged assault in Sydney’s west.
CCTV has been released as investigations are conducted into the circumstances surrounding the alleged serious assault that occurred on a Saturday night in Lidcombe in March this year.
Shortly before midnight on March 19, emergency services were called to the car park of a community hall on Bridge St at Lidcombe after receiving reports of a brawl.
Crews found and treated a 27-year-old man with serious head injuries, including fractures and a subdural haemorrhage, before taking him to Westmead Hospital to undergo surgery.
The man was allegedly assaulted by another man brandishing a machete who had arrived at the car park with four others in a Honda CRV a short time beforehand.
As inquiries continue, investigators have released CCTV footage with hopes of speaking to potential witnesses or anyone within the area on the night.
The CCTV images show a Honda CRV and several males who police believe may be able to assist them with their inquiries.
All three men are described as being of Pacific Islander or Maori appearance, around 170-180cm tall, and of a medium to large build.
Two of the men are captured leaving the car park in the CRV, which travelled eastbound on Tooheys Ln and stopped for a short time outside Lidcombe Railway Station, where a third man entered the vehicle.
Police are also appealing to anyone with mobile phone vision, or who has dashcam from the area at the time.
