The NSW Government and NSW Police Force have announced a $500,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the suspicious death of Cecilia Devine.
Six years after her body was found in a Blue Mountains dam, police continue their investigation into the 41-year-old’s mysterious death.
Cecilia, also known as Kristen Pearson, was reported missing from Waratah on September 5, 2018.
Despite immediate searches by police, she was not found until March 2019, when her remains were discovered by staff at a water treatment facility in Katoomba.
Strike Force Eking was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death, but detectives have been unable to determine how Cecilia came to the Blue Mountains or the cause of her death.
Commander of Blue Mountains Police Area Command, Superintendent John Nelson, hopes the $500,000 reward will bring forward new information.
“We still don’t have firm evidence of how she got here, why she made the journey, or how she died,” Supt Nelson said.
“This information could very well be the missing puzzle piece for this investigation.”
Cecilia’s mother, Kathy Pearson, also urged the public to help.
“Cecilia was a much-loved daughter, sister, and friend who was taken from us too soon in terrible circumstances. We hope this reward encourages anyone with information to come forward and help police provide answers and peace of mind to our family,” Ms. Pearson said.
The investigation continues under Strike Force Eking, with detectives calling for anyone who saw Cecilia or has information to come forward.
