NRL star Bryce Cartwright hit with AVO following ‘dispute’ with anti-vaxxer ex-wife Shanelle

Controversial NRL player Bryce Cartwright is due to face Waverley Local Court this week over a recent incident that saw NSW Police get involved.

Controversial NRL player Bryce Cartwright has had a restraining order taken out against him by police to protect his anti-vaxxer ex-wife.

Cartwright is due to face Waverley Local Court on Thursday over a recent incident that saw NSW Police get involved and issue him with an interim apprehended violence order (AVO).

The Parramatta Eels forward split from his long-term partner Shanelle early last year, after the pair caused widespread controversy over their views on all vaccinations, including the mandatory COVID-19 injections.

The pair married in 2018 and had two children together, but split soon after they arrived in Sydney in 2021 when Cartwright moved from the Gold Coast Titans to the Eels.

Sources told The Daily Telegraph the incident in question was in no way physical and more of a “domestic dispute”.

He has not been charged with any offence.

Under the conditions of the AVO, Cartwright is prevented from assaulting, threatening, stalking, harassing or intimidating his ex-wife.

Both the Parramatta Eels and NSW Police said they were unable to comment on the matter.

Cartwright came off the bench for a brief 10 minute stint in the Eels’ impressive 36-20 win over the Manly Sea Eagles on Friday night.

He has battled a mix of injury and form issues in 2022, managing just seven appearances compared to the 19 he made last year.
