New evidence in the high profile trial of Bruce Lehrmann can be revealed after his accuser, Brittany Higgins finished her appearance in the witness box on Friday.

Lehrmann is accused of sexually assaulting Ms Higgins in an office at Parliament House in March 2019, a charge he strongly denies and to which he pleaded not guilty.

The cross examination of Ms Higgins had to be postponed on Monday after the former political staffer became unavailable.

It meant the trial continued, but all evidence was kept from publication until Ms Higgins had completed her testimony.

The jury first heard Lehrmann’s interview with police, in early 2021, on Monday along with testimony from witnesses including another staffer and a Parliament security guard.

Ms Higgins has now completed her evidence meaning the earlier evidence can be reported to the public.
