A cage fighter allegedly bashed a mate in a backyard fight gone wrong, left him for dead on a Western Sydney street and was eventually caught hiding in bushes.
Detectives will allege 38-year-old Bradley Fletcher had only moved into a Melonba home hours before a sparring session resulted in the horrific injuries of a 32-year-old man on Friday night.
Fletcher is due to face Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday charged with murder, after police allege he drove his sparring partner just metres down the road before dumping him on the footpath.
Pools of blood were still visible on the pavement at nearby Georgina St on Saturday, where a member of the public found the man unconscious and bleeding heavily about 8.45pm Friday.
Police sources said Fletcher allegedly told officers that the pair were involved in a backyard fight, and when they arrived at the Annan Ave home it was “consistent with a fight taking place”.
It will be alleged that after dumping the man out of his vehicle, Fletcher crashed into a parked car and was found by police hiding in bushes.
CCTV footage obtained by The Sunday Telegraph from around that time on Friday night shows a heavily built man entering the property before leaving in a white SUV with a woman.
Police sources said the 32-year-old’s injuries were so severe he would not have been able to leave the home unassisted.
Forensic experts yesterday spent the majority of the day combing through the five-bedroom property where the alleged fight took place.
Real estate records show the home had been rented out earlier this month for $1100 a week.
Neighbours on the newly built block near Mount Druitt said they were shocked to learn someone had been killed inside the home.
Security vision from that night showed young families and children walking past the home around the time police allege the fight took place, unaware of the tragedy inside.
Many who live in the tightly-knit community had only been in their dream homes less than a year, after the suburb was developed in 2020.
Several woke on Saturday to police knocking at their door, canvassing the entire street for CCTV footage that could help them piece together how the man died.
“It was scary. We just came home from dinner and all we could hear were sirens and our street was blocked off,” one neighbour, who did not want to be named, said.
