A creek has been drained by officers searching for the remains of missing toddler William Tyrrell.

Police dig continues today in the search for William Tyrrell

Police have drained a bush creek and pulled suspect fragments - including animal bones - from its muddy banks as the search for William Tyrrell enters its third week.

Strikeforce Rosann has been combing over a tiny patch of bushland searching for the missing toddler south of the mid north town of Kendall.

Specialist Rural Fire Service members drained a small, winding bush creek on Monday morning after spending two entire weeks digging on flat ground nearby.

Hunks of decomposing fabric and a small bone was pulled up on Monday - the suspected remains of a kangaroo.

As the search entered its final hour of the day, on Monday, a small crew of Riot Squad officers pulled out a small, muddy item and handed it over to officers leading the investigation including Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Dukes.

It is just one of dozens of potential clues pulled from the bushland.

An “Exhibit Z” was put down indicating one find on Monday morning before the evidence alphabet reset - and the next clue was marked “Exhibit A”.

All will be examined by forensic experts in the coming days.

A cadaver dog also went over the expanding search site to sniff the freshly upturned earth just 900 metres from where William vanished seven years ago.

Police have said the state’s highest profile investigation has now focused on just one person - William’s foster mother.

She has not been charged.
