More than $9m worth of drugs found in car after man flees police on M5

Two men have been charged after police pulled them over on the M5 motorway on Friday and found millions of dollars worth of drugs in their vehicle.

$12 million worth of cocaine and ‘ice’ seized

More than $9 million worth of drugs has been found hidden inside a car after the passenger fled into the bush in a bid to avoid police.

NSW Police pulled the car over near the intersection of the M5 and the River Rd at Milperra in Sydney’s west on Friday afternoon.

One of the men, 24-year-old Adam Sakr, who was inside the car allegedly fled across the motorway and later found hiding in the bushes.

It is alleged officers found 280 grams of cocaine stashed in the Sakr’s pants.

Back at the car, police uncovered 17kg of cocaine and 8kg of methamphetamine, otherwise known as ice, with a street value of $9.284 million.

Sakr and 23-year-old Jesse Robson, who was also in the car, were arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station.

Sakr was charged with six counts of supply prohibited drug, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, and escape police custody.

Police allege he was also involved in the supply of 50kg of cocaine earlier in the year.

Robson was charged with drug supply.

Both men fronted Parramatta Local Court on Saturday but did not apply for bail.

Their defence solicitor Fadi Abbas asked for the matter to be adjourned Bankstown Local Court on September 2.

The arrest was part of a broader investigation, led by the NSW Organised Crime Squad, the NSW Crime Commission and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, into drug trafficking across the south western suburbs

On June 1, traffic and highway patrol police found 30kg of ice, 11kg of MDMA, 4kg of cocaine and 3kg of heroin inside a Mitsubishi Triton ute on the Sturt Highway at Hay.

The 65-year-old driver was charged and remains before the courts.
