The body of a man has been found in a river in North Parramatta this afternoon.
The man went missing on Saturday night after emergency services were called to James Ruse Drive at 9.40pm after the man, who was running across the road, was hit by a car.
When the driver stopped to help, he said the man ran off and disappeared into Lake Parramatta Reserve.
NSW Police said they were later called to lake, where the man was seen in distress in the water.
The man was only found after police divers discovered the body up river at 12:30pm today.
The man has yet to be formally identified.
Emergency services were called to King Street Wharf at 1.20am on Sunday morning after a man was reported in the water but was not seen resurfacing.
The night search by police and Marine Area Command was cancelled due to visibility issues and police divers resumed the search on Sunday morning when it was light.
“Inquiries suggest the death of the man was not suspicious; however, a report will be prepared for the coroner,” a spokesperson for NSW police said.
