Malcolm George Baker, 76, died in palliative care on Saturday while serving six life sentences for a killing spree known as The Central Coast massacre.

Baker’s horrific crime took place on 27 October when he went on a rampage in Terrigal, Bateau Bay and Wyong killing seven people including an unborn baby.

Baker used a double-barrel shotgun to smash the window to his ex-girlfriend Kerry Gannon and her sister Lisa Gannon’s Terrigal apartment.

A friend of the two women, Christopher Gall, 22, who was visiting the house was the first person shot, suffering a gunshot wound to the face. Baker then shot Kerry dead.

Minutes later, he killed Lisa who was eight months pregnant. Her unborn child could not be saved. Their father, Thomas Gannon, 43, who was staying with the sisters, was found dead in the street.

Baker then drove to his son David’s home in Bateau Bay, and shot him in the back of the head and left his body in the backyard. Not done on his killing spree, Baker then went to the home of Ross Smith, 35, and Leslie Read, 25, in Wyong. He shot and critically injured Read, who survived, then killed Smith who was in the bathtub at the time.
