Manhunt ends in Victoria after Sydney’s daylight stabbing

A man has been arrested across state lines, after NSW Police launched a manhunt, for a man allegedly involved in a daylight stabbing in Sydney’s Chinatown.

A manhunt for a man who allegedly stabbed a 22-year-old near Sydney’s Chinatown on Sunday afternoon is over.

A NSW Police spokeswoman confirmed to The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday evening that the hunt for the man had come to an end, following an arrest made in Victoria.

“The man was arrested in Victoria and NSW Police Force are working with Victoria Police on extradition process,” NSW Police spokeswoman confirmed.

Police were called to Darling Rd in Haymarket shortly before 4.30pm on Sunday, following reports of an assault.

Officers were told a 22-year-old man was walking near the light rail stop at Chinatown when he was stabbed in the back by another man who ran away towards Darling Drive.

Paramedics treated the injured man at the scene before he was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
