Man takes himself to hospital after being shot in abdomen and hand, stabbed at Riverwood
A man has been shot twice and stabbed before taking himself to hospital in what police believe was an ambush, in Sydney’s south west.
A man has been shot and stabbed in what police believe was an ambush on a suburban street in Sydney’s southwest.
About 10pm on Tuesday, police and paramedics were called to Kentucky Rd, Riverwood, after reports of shots fired.
When they arrived, they found signs of a violent incident, but no victim.
Around the same time, emergency services were told a man had presented to Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital with critical injuries.
Officers from Campsie Police Area Command attended and found a 30-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen and hand, as well as a stab wound to his shoulder.
He was urgently transferred to a trauma hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
Police believe two attackers may be involved.
Both remain on the run.
Officers are waiting to speak to the injured man, who police say is not willing to speak.
Detectives were back on the scene Wednesday morning, door-knocking units near where the victim was attacked.
It’s understood the man was shot and stabbed outside a unit block on Kentucky Rd.
Riot squad officers swept along Kentucky Rd, searching for any weapons or evidence linked to the attack.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident – or who was in the vicinity of Kentucky Rd shortly before 10pm and may have witnessed suspicious activity or has relevant dashcam – to contact Campsie Police or Crime Stoppers.
