Police are hunting four men who broke into a home, then stabbed its occupant when he confronted them in Sydney’s west.
The resident, 56, was hospitalised after he was stabbed while approaching the intruders in the garage of his home in Seven Hills.
Emergency services were called to Hope St shortly before 3am.
Police officers attended along with paramedics, who treated a 56-year-old man for a serious injury to his arm.
Police were told one of the men was armed with a machete.
CCTV screen grabs from inside the home shows the moment two men made an attempt to leave the property after the alleged stabbing.
The victim is currently getting treated for a wound in Westmead Hospital.
Neighbour Simon Brannigan said he was woken by an altercation outside which he described as sounding like four men.
“It was kind of just male voices, all yelling,” Mr Brannigan said.
“They sort of just jumped in a car and took off.”
Mr Brannigan, who only lives a few houses from the scene said Tuesday morning’s incident had left him feeling afraid.
“A bit rattled, bit scared, it’s just Tuesday morning, so pretty crazy,” he said.
On Tuesday morning, police tape cordoned off the brick home as uniformed officers and forensic crews scoured the garage for evidence.
Detectives were seen speaking with neighbours along Hope Street, gathering information as part of their investigation into the violent break-in.
A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the incident has commenced.
