A man has been freed from wreckage after serious crash with an impact so severe it left his mangled car wrapped around a snapped power pole on Mona Vale Road early on Friday.

A man was left trapped in his ute and in serious condition after wrapping his car around a power line pole in Sydney’s Northern Beaches early Friday morning.
Emergency services were called to a scene shortly after 6.30am after the single vehicle crash on Mona Vale Rd, outside a Flower Power store in Terrey Hills.
They discovered a mangled vehicle with extensive structural damage, with the driver trapped inside the wreckage.
The impact of the crash was so great, the power line was snapped. Specialist Fire and Rescue NSW crews worked for an extended period to free the man.
The Toll Rescue Helicopter brought critical care paramedics and a trauma doctor to assist at the scene as the fight to free the man continued.
After being extricated, the driver was treated by medical teams before being transported in a serious condition to Royal North Shore Hospital under police escort.
Mona Vale Road remains closed eastbound as crash investigators examine the scene.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and delays expected to last hours.
